Mo Vaughn's Charity & Community Work

  • Major supporter of the Jackie Robinson Foundation, a national organization that awards four-year college scholarships to academically gifted students of color with financial need, enabling them to attend the college of their choice.

  • Helped raise over $30,000 for the “Friends of Kiley” Foundation which raised money for a California policeman's sick child.

  • Donated the “Mo Vaughn Child Life Playroom” to UCI Medical Center Pediatric Department in Orange, California.

  • Provided sports equipment for local Boys & Girls Clubs.

  • Founded the “Mo Vaughn Youth Development Foundation” in Dorchester, MA. This organization offers grants and provides about $450,000 a year for youth development projects.

  • Helped raise money for the Gene Autry Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) League, a project committed to giving youth the opportunity to play baseball in Anaheim. The program is in partnership with the Anaheim Angels and the Boys & Girls Club of Orange County, CA. To celebrate the league, Mo Vaughn brought 400 children to Disneyland to participate in a parade.

  • Sponsored Charles Taylor Elementary School in Mattapan, MA while playing for the Boston Red Sox in the team's Adopt-A-School program.

  • Was a spokesperson for the Boston Food Bank and Catholic Charities, an organization committed to assisting the homeless in inner cities.

  • Involved with the JP Morgan Chase “Baseball is for Kids” Program.

  • 1995 A. Bartlett Giamatti Award for Community Service.

  • Supporter of the Jimmy Fund, an organization supporting the fight against cancer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, helping to raise the chances of survival for children and adults with cancer around the world
