Baisley Park Gardens is located in Jamaica, New York, in the borough of Queens. The property consists of 212 units of affordable housing in five buildings. Omni New York LLC acquired the property in July, 2008 with financing from the New York State Housing Finance Agency. The Housing Finance Agency provided Low Income Housing Tax Credits and a loan through the issuance of tax exempt bonds. Additionally, a grant was received from National Grid for implementing energy efficient measures in the property.
Building renovations were completed in July, 2009 and included $9.5 million of much needed rehabilitation. The work included: renovation of the lobby areas, new elevators and the replacement and upgrading of building mechanics, new roof, brick pointing, improved common areas, new doors, renovation of the community facility and parking lot, landscaping, the repair and upgrade of boilers, in-unit capital improvements, such as the installation of new floors, new windows; and the replacement of kitchen cabinets, appliances, countertops and fixtures; the replacement of bathroom vanities, sinks, faucets, bath tubs and tiles. In addition, the security systems at the property were completely overhauled.
